Grants and Gifts


  • TAP would like to thank the Jeanette P. Barron Charitable Foundation for a grant of $1000 in December 2011.

  • TAP would like to thank the Jeanette P. Barron Charitable Foundation for grants of $6000 in December 2009 and $5000 in December 2010.

  • In September 2009, TAP received two grants, one for $5,000 and one for $4,000, for general support, from Newman's Own Foundation. TAP began receiving funds from Mr. Newman back in December 2003. Over the years, we have been the proud recipient of funding from Newman's Own Foundation on the recommendation of two of Mr. Newman's family members. TAP is honored for the Foundation's continued support and thankful to Mr. Newman's family and to the Board of Directors of the foundation for recognizing the value of our organization. The funds will enable us to continue to develop our organization and to share our work with many throughout the world.
  • On February 16, 2007, TAP received a grant of $5,000 from Newman's Own Foundation, Inc. TAP wishes to acknowledge the generosity of Newman's Own Foundation and of Mr. Paul Newman for their support and of Raphael Elkind who recommended us to the foundation for this funding.

    The letter states "We are pleased to be able to support your organization and wish you continued success in your worthwhile programs." This donation is specifically for general support. We are thankful for both the grant and for the foundation's continuing demonstrated belief in our efforts.

  • TAP would like to thank the Jeanette P. Barron Charitable Foundation for a grant of $5000.

  • TAP Would like to thank Pearson Longman ELT and its president, Joanne Dresner, for generously printing 250 copies of our 2005-2006 Essay Contest Winners booklet. The booklets are available for sale for $5 apiece.

  • TAP would like to thank the Paul Newman Foundation and Rafe Elkind, for continuing to support TAP with a $4,000 gift in January 2005. (This is their third contribution and brings their total contributions to $13,000 since December 2003). The gift will be used to support TAP's numerous outreach initiatives.

  • Also, in January 2005, for the third year in a row, we received a gift of $1,000 from Nancy Zuckerman of New York City.

  • We are pleased to announce that the Haymarket People's Fund has awarded us another grant in the amount of $2,200. This grant money will again be used to fund teacher training workshops in New England (Vermont, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut).

  • On April 7, 2004, TAP received $5000 from Paul Newman Charitable Giving. This donation was sent at the suggestion of Lissie Newman. TAP wishes to acknowledge the generosity of both Mr. Newman and Ms. Newman. Previously, in December 2003, TAP was the recipient of a $4,000 gift from the Newman Foundation.

    The letter states "the enclosed contribution is sent with every good wish for your continued success in your worthy endeavors." This donation will help us with developing materials, supplementing workshop expenses, and general support. We are thankful for the donation, for the demonstrated belief in our efforts, and for our continuing relationship with the Newman Foundation.

  • Recently, TAP also received a gift of $1,000 from the Schmertzler Family Foundation. TAP would also like to extend its thanks to the Schmertzler's for this contribution.

  • In December 2003, TAP received a donation of $4000 towards our documentary project:Targeting the Turban: Sikh Americans After September 11.

    The donation was sent by the Sikh Study Circle in Stone Mountain, Georgia. The funds are being used to work on the actual production of the documentary. The first 28 minutes of what will be a one-hour documentary had its worldwide premiere at the Spinning Wheel Festival, a Sikh film festival, in Toronto, Canada in October 2003. We wish to acknowledge and thank the Sikh Study Circle for their timely and important donation, which will help us continue our work on this extremely relevant project.

  • On December 28, 2003, TAP received $4000 from Paul Newman Charitable Giving.This donation was sent at the suggestion of Raphael Elkind. TAP wishes to acknowledge the generosity of both Mr. Newman and Mr. Elkind.

  • On August 29, 2003 the Amar Infinity Group, based in Phoenix, Arizona, awarded TAP an additional $2,000 towards its video project, Targeting the Turban. We again thank the Amar Infinity Group for continuing to support this very worthy project.

  • On April 30, 2003, TAP received two grants, totaling $11,100, towards our special project:Targeting the Turban: Sikh Americans After September 11. This is the video documentary project which we have been working on.

    Both of these grants were awarded by the Amar Infinity Group based in Phoenix, Arizona.
